ICF Celebrates 13th Founding Anniversary
With this year’s theme: “Crystallizing our National Identity, Polishing the Spirit of Nationalism,” ICF celebrated its anniversary by showcasing different activities which gave way for the different talents of the students to show off. “This is indeed an opportunity for our students to take for their self improvement,” Ma’am Mary Ann Coliamco explained.
January 30 started the celebration with the talent show of the candidates vying for Miss ICF 2009 at Doña Lualhati Cojuangco Gymnasium. It was also on the same day and time where the Raffle Draw for pleasing prizes was made. The huge crowd spilled out the coliseum because the event was attended by all the students of ICF from elementary to college level which tremendously outnumbered the non-ICF spectators. Crowd’s cheer trembled the hall as if it was raining cats and dogs inside the gym. Everyone looked excited and hoping to be lucky enough to bring home at least a pack of grocery. Yells and shouts became more intense when the show down of talents started.
In an unusual time, 4 P.M. it was, ICF held a grand parade on February 2 which started off from Sitio Bugallon, Estacion, Paniqui, Tarlac and ended at the Paniqui Public Auditorium. A float competition was made and the Comp. Tech. Department deservingly won the first prize. Wearing their different costumes, the participants paraded and was viewed by the public amusingly. “For the first time, ICF has artistically shown a parade which is different from I have seen before,” a municipal employee said as the parade passed-by in front of the municipal building.
On the same day, place and right after the street spotlight, the most awaited clash of the field demonstration was held. The CBA bagged the first prize which the viewing public agreeably applauded for them. The high school coeds comparatively took hold the second place as the result of the full-force support coming from their advisers. The viewing public and the participants seemed in a hurry to go home because it was already dusk when the HRM Department performed. Few people were watching their dance but the panel of judges noticeably can’t take off their eyes on them as they wanted to come-up with a good result. And at the end of the competition, they brought home the third place. With their five day rehearsal, Education Department won the fourth place. “We ran out of time for practices kasi eh,” Mr. Aguinaldo modestly admitted. “Anyway, my students have shown their best and that is enough for me,” he continued. And the last but not the least, who won the fifth place was the Comp. Prog. Department with their own interpretation of the “Pahiyas Festival” matched with a dummy of a carabao which amused the spectators.
It was February 6, the search for Miss ICF 2009 Coronation Night was held. The lady from the CBA Department, Kimberly Ann Lomboy was deservingly crowned as the newest Miss ICF, Unikah Gatchalian from the Comp. Prog. Department was chosen as the First Runner-up, Filipina Gallema, the delegate from Educ. Department as the Second Runner-up, Jaimarre Juennese Uy won the Third Runner-up and the lady from the high school department, Joyce Roxanne Rivera who was eventually sponsored by the Comp. Tech. Department took away the crown for the Fourth Runner-up.
