Campfire’s Burning

Campfire’s Burning

Here we go again! The annual Joint BSP-GSP Backyard Camping was once again held at the High School Department of the Interworld Colleges Foundation, Inc. on November 26-29, 2010. Four days and three nights of memorable school activities organized by the faculty staff and the student crew leaders headed by Ms. Mary Jane Manansala and Mr. Peter Beltran, the Scout Masters.

The first day of the activity was the usual setting of the campsite. The campers were then asked to recite the Boy Scout’s and the Girl Scout’s Oaths before they set foot on the camp and put up their tents. The succeeding line up of activities has been very fruitful and rewarding for the students. A seminar-orientation for campers has been prepared on the first night by the scout masters wherein they learned a lot of things. The following day, though a heavy rain fell on the campsite, this did not lose the student’s enthusiasm. Because on the evening of that day, the campers were still so energetic participating on the night’s activities like the “Banda Rito, Banda Roon Contest (Kitchen Symphony) and their Comedy Skits. There were a lot of singing and laughing from the campers that night. And of course on the third day was once again a learning experience for the campers as they joined the “camp hike” wherein tests and tasks were given to them to complete before they even return to the campsite. But the night of that day was most memorable of all because it was the Grand Campfire. It was also at that time that the Mr. BSP and Ms. GSP were selected. Reynald Galicia of II-Windows was the Mr. BSP while Micah Joy Sagabaen of III-Windows was the Ms. GSP. It was a night of ceremonies, talents, and once again singing and laughter… it was a night full of memories.

As the yearly camping ends, it was still a hope that the students who joined the said event should never forget all the good things that they have learned for what they have experienced. Scouting is a way to test the students of their courage, determination, discipline, industry, leadership, and of course their independence. Let the “campfire” continue to “burn” in our hearts and in our minds.
